Remember June 6th

June 6th 2016 D-Day

Today, June 6th, in 1944, the largest amphibious invasion in history took place on the shores of Normandy, to liberate France from the Nazis and turn the tide of World War II toward victory.

There are 9,386 graves in the American Cemetery in Normandy, each facing West toward the USA. 307 of these are the remains of unknown soldiers, while another 1,557 more are listed in The Garden of the Missing for soldiers that were never found.

Take a moment today to read a bit of history about D-Day and remember those that gave their lives so that we can live free of the tyranny and fascism of the Third Reich.
